Wonderful presentation. I'm afraid that things are going to get far worse as this virus (for want of a better word) of bots substituting for humans spreads through the digital world. Smart people should start scaling back their digital presence and adopt defensive positions until we can see if the storm becomes self-sustsining or not. For now, we should assume that every word we write here is going to be harvested with or without our consent to train some llm.
Well said Michael. I agree - everything that's visible on the net (even this reply) could very well be used to train various llms out there. While for us, the consumers, it is violation of consent, for the ai model it's just another 'data sample'. The term 'Consent' thus loses its meaning.
I agree. And every transaction we see on the web may well be bot generated including this conversation! "Consent" and "Trust" go out the window. I can envision a nightmare scenario where the only users who can afford the software that accurately detects deep fakery will be the very wealthy, while the rest of us will be forced to use a totally unreliable internet where we, a bewildered herd, sole function will be to provide data fodder for the llm's of the rich! Twas ever thus. The rich will get the luxury of an unpolluted internet, the rest of us will be in the slums!
